Abstract:
250 rats and lOO mice were trapped from different districts of zagazig and zagazig surroundings, typed and~xamined bacteriolOgicallY for tbe presence of salmonella. ~ salmonella were isolated from rats aod mice int be folloW ing percentages: 2% ano 3%, res pec t i v elY • Sbigella groUP was alSO isolated from rats 2.4% and frommice 2%. 3- Tbe followiog groUpS were isolated from rats and mice; EScberichia, Oitrobacter, and proteus. Klebsiella and providencia were only isolated from rats but not frol§..1J#..@1.mice. 4- Beside the isolated members of the family Enterobactericeae, pseudomonas aeruginosa and yeast were isolated from botb rats and mice. 5- from the publiC health point of view, the importaeof infected rats and mice as a reservoir of infection oj food poisoning in man cannot be over looked.
