Abstract:
Summary:-Since fish and shellfish are subjected to the risk ofcontamination with various pathogenes either during theirpresencein their aquatic environments or after beingharvestedfor marketing. This work was done to assesssanitary condition of Tilalpia nilotica and Clarias lazerawhichare the common type of fish in Egypt taken fromurban and rural markets.One hundred samples of Tilapia nilotica and Clariaslazera Taken from urban and rural markets wereexaminedorganolepticaly, Bacteriologicaly, Mycologically and chemic-ally.The organoleptic examination for the samples revealedthat all samples can be considered fresh, the• overall meanwas 80.73 + 0.60The Bacteriological examination revealed that thetotal colony count from surface of Tilalpia nilatica andClarias lazera taken from urban and ruralarea in an7 ~overall mean were (52.1 x 10 + 50 x 10 ) lower countrecorded fromlazera than675 x 10 .± 5 xurban areas of Tilpia nilotica and Clarias7 (:those of rural areas (85 x 10 + 68 x 10 and6 s 6 7 610) and (10 x 10 + 96 x 10, 16 x 10 + 8 x 10)respectively.
