Abstract:
The computational fluid dynamics (CFD efforts were conducted employing CFDRC (Computational Fluid Dynamic Research Corporation( code to numerically analyze the spray characteristies of the Airblast-Simplex nozzle. The CFD resultes are presented in this study in two parts, the first was direct comarison with the experimental data ( DROPlets size,DROPlet& air velocities( The second part was a sensitivity analysis of the inlet parameters to the CFD cod swirl,DROPlets size, turbutent parameters and spread constant( on the spary characteristics. The CFD runs used water as the test liqued, and the spray was simulated as a 2-Daxisymmetric flow. The physical dimensions of the computation domain are 100X50 mm. in the axial and radial direction respectively; a non-uniform grid distribution was used (clustered near the nozzle’s exit & aix of symmetry( and with 110X80 girds in the axial and radial directions respectively. The results were obtained at X = 10, 17 and mm downs stream of the nozzle exitin .
