Abstract:
The overall aim of the present thesis was to studt the possibity of using the ultrasonic wave analysis for determination of the characteristics of an 6063 aluminum alloy is its good ability for extrusion process. Its extrudability depends to alarge extent on homogenization treatment. In the present work, discs of 203 mm diameter and 25-35 mm thickness were cut from direct chill cast billets. Two types of homogenization process were carried out: a- homogenization at temperatures of 400,500 and 570c for eigt hours, and bhomogenization at temperature of 570c for different holding times, in the range of one to eigt hours. Then the discs were fan air cooled to room temperature.
