Abstract:
the work carried out in this thesis consists mainly of two pars: part1, deals with the chmical examination of the leaves of egyption poinciana-regia.the dried and crushed leaves were first extracted with light petroleum which was shown by (GLC) to contain in the volatile fraction acetone, ethanol, acetic acid, dimethy1 ketone. 2-penta-none, B-ionone, propanol, 2-methyl butanol, linalool,- terpenol, benz aldehyde, geraniol, benzyl alcohol, trans-farnisol, myrcene and other unidentified constituents. the neutral fraction of the no-crolortile protion contains an aliphatic alcohol, B-sitosterol and a mixture of saturated long chain hydrucarbons which shown by(GLC) to contain, n-octadecane, n-nona decane, n-eicosane, n-docosane, n-tetracosane, n-pentacosane, n-hexacosane, n-hepta cosane, n-octa consane, n-nona cosane, n-acontane, n-uncontane, n-docontane, n-tri contane, n-teracontane.
