Abstract:
Formulation of drugs into polymeric films is considered to be a possible way to achieve sustained drug release and to solve certain other problems of orally administered drugs. These polymeric films are applied on the skin to give systemic action.Certain anti-inflammatory drugs such as diclofenac sodium (NSAIDs) possess short duration of action and a decreased bioavailability due to degradation in the liver by liver enzymes in addition to its gastric irritation; also colchicine which is an anti-inflammatory drug used in acute gouty attacks and has short biological half life. The aim of this thesis is to formulate diclofenac sodium and colchicine in polymeric films to solve the previously mentioned problems. This thesis is divided into two parts, each consists of two chapters
