Abstract:
Superficial Fungal infection is the most common fungal infection in allcountries especially tropical areas like Egypt. Although azoles antifungal are themost commonly used antifungal in clinical treatment of both superficial andsystemic fungal infections, triazoles topical antifungal agents are notcommercially available in spite of its efficiency and safety over imidazoles andpolyenes, which are available commercially and heavily used. Many azoles arepoorly water soluble, which limits their bioavailability and antifungal effects. The objective of the present study was to design and develop topicalpharmaceutically acceptable nonionic surfactant systems for poorly watersolublecompounds, triazole antifungal agents such as fluconazole andterconazole. The development of topical microemulsion systems is an objectiveof the present study. Several of the systems have been developed and evaluatedfor their physico-chemical characteristics, invitro liberation behavior, skinirritation, microbiological efficacy of medicated and nonmedicated formulaehave been studied alone and then compared with some commercialpreparations, and clinical activity was also evaluated. Therefore, the work inthis thesis is divided into two chapters:- UChapter I: Formulation and Evaluation of Topical Medicated
