Abstract:
Family Solanaceae is one of the largest families in plant kingdom. Their importance is due to the presence of large biologically active constituent ”tropane alkaloids”, in addition to other constituents such as steroidal alkaloids, glycoalkaloids and withanolides. Hyoscyamus is one of an important member Solanaceae that contain tropane alkaloids, and used for a years as antispasmodic, mydriatic and for management of all body secretion. So, this thesis comprises a pharmacognostical study of Hyoscyamus aureus L. belonging to family Solanaceae to perform:1- Botanical study of its different organs to ease the identification of the plant.2- Isolation and characterization of its chemical constituent (tropane alkaloids).3- Tissue culture study to increase a scare plant and rapid propagation of plants for evaluation and commercial production.4- Comparison between the in vitro and the in vivo tissues for the production of tropane alkaloids by TLC, colourimetry, HPLC and GLC-MS.5- Pharmacological and antimicrobial study of the plant extract. Thus, the present study was performed in five parts included:Part I: Macro- and Micromorphological study of different organs. The study was carried out to identify the plant from other Hyoscyamus species; as a result the following characters comprise the main diagnostic features:1- The plant is perennial herbs or shrubs and hermaphrodite
