Synthesis of some Quinoline thiosemicarbazone derivatves of potential antimicrobial activity

Quinoline Thiosemicarbazone-antimicrobial Activity.Some intermediate compounds were prepared e.g. 5-Acetyl-8-hydroxyquinoline and 5-Benzoyl-8- hydroxyquinoline . Some new final compounds were prepared e.g. 5-Acetyl-8-hydroxyquinoline thiosemicarbazone and 5-Acetyl-8-hydroxyquinoline-4-methyl thiosemicarbazone .In general , cyclization of the thiosemicarbazone into the corresponding thiazolidinone derivatives was meant to check how much the antimicrobial activities of the thiosemicarbazones would be affected due to the inclusion of thiosemicarbazone moiety within a heterocyclic ring .The antimicrobial activity of the prepared compounds was achieved by comparison with streptomycin as a reference drug for tested bacteria and clotrimazol as a reference drug for the tested fungi using cup inhibition zone test .
