Abstract:
Tecoma mollis Humb and Bonpl. (Bignoniaceae) Known as (Tecoma Velutina, lindl.) and (Tecoma stans var. velutina, Hort.) is an upright evergreen shrub to large tree attaining 7 meters in hight and introduced to Egypt as an ornamental plant for its timber and showy bell shaped flowers. By reviewing the available current literature, nothing could be traced about the plant cultivated in Egypt , and this stimulated the present work which includes: Part I: Botanical study, including : the macro- and micromorphology of the different organs viz. leaves , stems and stem bark in entire and powdered forms. Part II: Phytochemical study, including: phytochemical screening, extraction, fractionation, isolation and identification of the different constituents of the plant . Part III: Investigation of some pharmacological effects of different extracts of Tecoma mollis leaves.
