Abstract:
Conventional delivery systems suffer from the limitation of minimal synchronization between the required time for therapeutically effective drug plasma concentrations and the actual drug release profile exhibited by the dosage form. The aim of the work in this study was to prepare and evaluate different drug delivery systems to be taken via various routs of administration such as organogels, hydrogels, bigels and liposomes. The suggested systems can modulate and control the delivery of the free water soluble drug DH. The physiochemical properties of the prepared systems are to be characterized. The systems will be in vitro characterized for drug entrapment, and release profiles. Finally, the in vivo evaluation will be assessed on the basis that DH is anti-hypertensive drug and also anti glaucoma. Part I will deal with organogels, hydrogels, and bigels as transdermal or oral anti-hypertensive agents where, part II will consider the use of liposomal DH as effective topical anti-glaucoma formulation.
