| Abstract: |
In this thesis, simple, rapid reliable, and sensitive spectrofluoromentric methods were developed for the determination of eight quinolon e antibacterial namely amifloxacin, difloxacin, ciprofloxacin, nalidixic acid, norflozacin, lomefloxacin, ofloxacin and pefloxacin, the methods are based on the chelation of each of the studied drugs with zirconium, molybdenum, vanadium or tungsten to produce intensely fluorescent chelates. The thesis comprses four main part:Part I:Includes general introdutin about the quinolone antibacterials, information about their discovery, classification, therapeucti indications, mechanism of aciotn, pharmacokinetics, physical and chemical properties.Part 2:Comprises a literature review of the official and reported analytical methods used for the determination of the studied drugs. These methods were classified into titrimetric, potentiometric, spectrophotometric, spectrofluorometric, voltammetric, chromatographic, microbiological and miscellaneous methods.Part 3: comprises the experimental part containing information about all the instruments, drugs, reagents, solutions, phrmaceuticla formulation and procedures used in this thesis. In addition, methods used for the investigation of the re action mechanism and the statistical methods used for c orrelationg the relative fluourescence intensity of the studied chelates with the physicochemical parameters of the investigated quinolones.
