PREFACE1,3 - dibromo - 5,5-dimethyl hydantoin (DBH) is widely used in organic chemistry as a brominating and oxidizing agent. Beside it’s very” important role in the bromination of organic compounds, it is successfuly used in the analysis and evaluation of some organic compounds, such as sulphonamide, local anaesthetics, penicillins, N¬substituted phenothiazine derivatives and some quinoline derivatives.DBH has been also applied for the direct potentiometric estimation of hydrazine, phenylhydrazine, semicarbazide and qui no!.Comparing wi th the organic field, DBH has been used to a lesser extent in the inorgnaic one, some cations already been eval¬uated by it’s oxidation to the respective higher valency states, forexample As , Sb , Sn , TL and also some anions e.g. f errocyanf de,iodide and thiocyanate were similary evaluated. In this study attempts have been done to establish new methods for the determination of F e2+, Mn2+, C02+ and Cu I + ions, the resul ts obtained are satisfactory accurate and precise.
