Abstract:
Pharmaceutical analysis of analgesics and antipyretics is required for the purpose of quality control of these drugs in their different dosage forms, for drug stability studies as well as for the study of drug absorption and pharmacokinetics. Contributions to studies in this field are desirable and there is a growing need for the development of simple specific methods for the evaluation of such drugs. The majority of these analgesic and antipyretic compounds are present in the market in mixture forms. Most measurement techniques are not selective enough to measure individual components in the sample mixture or even in presence of their degradation products without prior separation as the separation process is tedious and time consuming. In the modern analytical laboratories HPLC and HPTLC chromatographic techniques have solved the problem. The component ingredients tried to be determined here are :1- Acetylsalicylic acid.2- Paracteramol.3- Phenazone.4- Phenacetin.5- Ascorbic acid.6- Phenylephrine hydrochloride.7- Caffeine.
