Abstract:
Despite the great advances it, therapeutic and preventive measures against dehydrating diarrhea in infants caused by enteropathogenic , they are usually very hard to control by chemoantibiotic therapy. In this investigation , 117 isolates of E. coli were isolated from 150 faeces – specimens of infants admitted to Zagazig University Hospital. These isolates were identified, then submitted to serological typing with the aid of the available antisera . Of all the recovered isolates, 50 E K.coll of strains proved to bolong to enteropathogenic E.coli of known serotype and were selected for the present Studyenteropathogenic E.coli strains were tested in for their susceptibility against each of 12 chemo antibiotics by the standardized disc agar diffusion method. The results of such determination show that, most of the strains were resistant, to CM (96%), RF(90%)TC (86%), AP (84%), SM(80%), SXT (50%), and NM (48%). While most of the strains were sensitive to TM (90%) , GM (88%) , MA (88%) , FOX (84%)
