Studies on Factors Affecting the Microbial of Contamination of Certain Non Sterile Pharmaceuticals of Misr Company

Abstract:
The microbial content of 33o containers representing 110 batch of 22 pharmaceutical preparation produced by Misr Company for pharmaceutical Industries were examined. These Include 8 liquid oral preparations, 6 tablets, and 8 topical preparations. The microbloloylcal examination included the determination of total aerobic bacterial counts fungal count, as well as tests for S. auretis, Ps .aeruginosa, Salmonella ( in liquid oral preparation, and tablets) and Coliforms.It was found that 40 batches (100 %) of liquid oral pre¬paration showed bacterial counts of 0-l0/ml. for the fungal count 10 batches (25 %) showed counts of zero While 30 batches (75%) showed counts of 0-10/ml. All thebatches examined were -free from S.aureus, Ps .aeruglnosa, and Salmonella .Eight preparations con¬tained coli forms.3- As regard tablets, it was found that the number of batches showed bacterial counts of 10-102 was 7 (23,3 %), the number of showed ; bacterial counts of 10 - H/ was 23 (.76.7 %), the number of batches showing fungal count of < 10 was. 14 (46.6 %), the number of batches showing fungal counts pf 10 - 10 was11 (36.6 %} the number of batches showing fungal counts of 10 - 10 was .5 ( 15.6) . All the batches examined were free from S . aureus , Ps. Aeruginosa , Salmonella and califorms.
