Abstract:
In the present work, it has been planned to adapt new pwtentiometric methods for determination of carbo-hvdrates in which a sample electrode systems is used. The work falls in three parts:-In the first part, we use platinum silver-silver chloride electrtode system for potentiometric titration of redueing carbohvdratos using alkaline mercuric bromide solution as oxidant, the end-point is marked by a rapid diminution in the potential difference between the two electrodes. No boiling being necessary during the tit-ration, other wise the volume of the titrated solution would be minimized and, consequently, the potential diff-erence between the two electrodes would be affected by second variable. The oxidizing system in alkaline medium proved to be the best at a temperature of 70 – 80 c without any need for the riaid exculusion of air during titration, thepreciptated metallic metallic mercury is not affected by atmospherie oxyqen. Different from copper reagents their reduction values asccrtained.
