Abstract:
Formulating of any drug in different pharmaceutical preparation requires the use of various additives. Theses are inclided fillers, stabilizers, preservations, sweeting agents emulsifiers, suspending agents solvents and others. Although the above mentioned addivities are considered to be inert and may have no therapeutic effect, may problems may rise during formulation due to physical or chemical niteractions which may occure between such kinds of substances and the active constituents accordingly the work in the presence thesis was carried out the throw light on the influence of some commonly used additives on stability of certain antibiotic. Thus the present thesis including two parts.Part IEffect of certain additives on the stability of amoxicillin in trihydrateIn this part the study comprises investigation of the stability of amoxicillin trihydrate at different PH values using different butters to demonstrate the effect of butter components and at different temperatures. In addition the influence of certain commonly used sweeting agents namely sorption sucrose, saccharin sodium and glycerol was studied. Moreover, the effect of commonly used thickening agents namely aerosil, kaolin, pectin, bentonite and veegum was also investi¬gated. Spectrophotometric assay method was carried out. The validity of the assay was confirmed by subjecting amoxycillin trihydrate to drastic conditions for specified periods in order to exclude the interference of the degradation products during estimation.
