Abstract:
The study aimed to prove the role of Mycoplasma in causing some human infection and also to compare between culture technique and PCR technique in diagnosis of Mycoplasma. In the present study, two techniques were used; culture technique and PCR technique which include two types conventional PCR and real-time PCR.Culture technique includes primary isolation; bacteriological examination on selective agar media for 740 urogenital samples yield 91 isolates were identified as Mycoplasma according to colony appearance (Fried egg).Four Mycoplasma species were identified from the urogenital samples M. genitalium (20.87%), M. hominis (21.97), U. urealyticum (16.47%) and M. fermentans (40.65%) and M.faucium(13.08).764 respiratory samples yielded 107 positive Mycoplasma isolates (14%). These coolate composed of M. pneumoniae (18.60%), M. orale (18.69%), M. salivarium (14.01%), M. hominis (14.01%), M. buccal (10.28%) and M. lipophilim (11.21%).M. pneumoniae, M. hominis, M.orale, M.salivarium and M.buccal were isolated from throat swabs of asthmatic children at a percent of 20% for each. In sputum samples M. pneumoniae was isolated at a percent of 33.33% while M. hominis, M.orale, M.salivarium and M.buccal were isolated at a percent of 16.66% for each.
