Abstract:
Elevated blood glucose level resulted in non-enzymatic glycation of proteins forming advanced glycated end products (AGE), which is known to be toxic and immunogenic. AGE interaction with its receptors RAGE cause oxidative stress joined with the release of the proinflammatory cytokines (IL-1B & TNF-a). IL-1B is selectively cytotoxic to the pancreatic B-cell islets via action of (NO). AGE inhibitor (aminoguanidine) is used either alone or in combined form with natural antioxidant catechin or omega-3 fatty acids).
