Abstract:
The present work was designed lo study the metabolic effects of both catechin (green tea extract) and melamine, in alloxan diabetic ratsBiochemical parameters chosen were : Plasma glucose, total Cholesterol (TC), triacylglyccrol (TG) , lactate, pyruvate, (MDA), NEFA, liver glycogen contents and insulin levels.Experimental animals :Animals were divided into two main groups A und It. ;Each group was future subdivided into 4 subgroups :Group (A) ; (4 weeks treatment) :Subgroup I : Normal, nondiahetic nits, received saline orally and expressed as normal control.Subgroup II: Alloxan diabetic rats, received saline only and served asSubgroup III: Alloxan diabetic rats, received metformin (100 mg/kg) body weight orally and daily for 4 weeks.Subgroup IV : Alloxan diabetic rats received catchin (10 nig/kg) body weight orally, and daily for 4 weeks.
