Abstract:
Many members of family Cruciferae are widely distributed in Egypt specially as food crops. Due to the economic importance of these plants and in addition to the little exploration of members of this family . I was encouraged to study one of the Egyptian Cruciferous plants which is commonly seen in wheat and corn fields i.e. Sinapis arvensis L. The present study was planned to illustrated the following : 1\ Macro and micro-morphological characters of the flower, stem, leaf and root to identify and differentiate these organs in the entire and powdered form. 2\Preliminary phytochemical screening of the leaves . flowers and seeds. 3\ Detection , isolation, identification and structure elucidation of the constituents of the plant. 4\ Biological screening for the major components of the plant under investigation.
