Medicinal plants regained its reputetion as the safe and effective remedy of most diseases . Most countries built facories for manufacturing herbal remedies as well as clinics for the treatment of diseases by herbal medicins.The present study comprises the pharmacognostical study of two folkly used plants with different medicinal uses and they also belonging to two different classes of the plant kingdom ( monocot and dicot ).This Study includes two parts :Part 1Pharmacognostical study of the roots and rhizomes of Gentiana Kurroo Royle.part 112— Establishing its chemical constituents through phytocheznical investigation. This study divided into two clmpters:I- Botanical study:-Macro and micro morphological stLldy of different organs was carried out to characterize the plant and as a result, the plant shows the following diagnostic feature.1-The plant is an annual, densely, appressed, canescent to greenish hairy, erect herb, with several foliage and flowering branches arising near the base.2-Leaves are mostly cauline, few radical, alternate, simple, entire, exstipulate, sessile, and yellowish-green in colour.3- Flowers are pentamerous, hypogenous, hermaphrodite and zygomorphic.4- Fruits are carcerulus of 4-nutlets, enclosing in strongly pubescent calyx, seed, pyramidal in shape, with thin leathery, pitted, yellowish- brown outer surface.5- Root is formed of well developed tape root, bearing few lateral branches and numerous wiry rootlets.
