Pharmacoloical Studies on the effect of some drugs on cardiac Arrhythmias

SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONMonensin induced appositive inotropiceffect in intact animals and isolated heart prepatations . Moreover , some investiagators suggest that monensin may be used clinically in certain disease states requiring innotropic support , coronary vasodilation or increase of cardiac out putOn the other hand , previous study on canine purkinje fibers indicates that monensin induced adecrease of force of contraction and shortening of action potential duration . In addition , monensin induced atransient increase in the course of changes in force of contraction and underlying changes in action potential were studied in guinera –pig atrial and ventricular preparations.In the present study , the effect of monensin on tension of isolated guinera –pig aorta was studied to clarify the mechanism of action of monensin on guinea – pig aprta .
