Abstract:
The results obtained clearly demonstrate that aspirin (20 mg/kg) and the reference drug quinidine (10mg/kg) increased the dose of barium chloride needed to produce these changes to nearly the same extent. Also tiaprofenic acid and indomethacin in a dose level of 20mg/kg exhibited similar activity. However, pirprofen (20mg/kg) did not show any significant protective effect against ventricular tachycardia and fibrillation induced by barium chloride whereas it significantly increased its dose required to produce cardiac arrest.Pretreatment with the drugs under investigation produced a significant protevtive action against ventricular tachycardia induce by aconitin e. the results obtained reveated that indometacin and aspirin in a dose level of 20 mg/kg and the reference durge quinidine (10 mg/kg) increased the dose of aconitine needed to produce ventricular taclycarida oto nearly the same extent. Tiaprofenic acid and pirprofen in an equivalent dose level exhibited the same pattern of activeiy. All tested druges. Save aspirin and the reference durg quinidne, were unable to protect guinea pigs against ventricular fibrillation induced by aconitine.
