Phytochemical Study of Some Alkaloid Bearing Plants

The importance of pyrrolizidine alkaloids is represented in its economic hazard to livestock in various parts of the world and the health hazard to man.Moreover the theraputic applications of these alkaloids as antitumor, antispasmodic and mydriatic drugs raise their importance.Our study comprises the isolation and structure determination of the PAs from the following plants :1- Alkanna orientalis ( L.) Boiss. Fam. Boraginaceae.2- Crotalaria aegyptiaca Benth Fam. Legumlnosae.3- Petasites paradoxus ( Retz.) Baumg. Fam. Compositae.4- Echium angustifolium Mill. Fam. Boraginaceae.
