A comparative Study on the Sterilization of Surgical Gloves by Ionizng Radiations & Ethylene Oxide

Abstract:
1. A total of 70 pairs of glovea were collected as follows: 20 pairs of gloves obtained from the manufacturing company (10 pairs were fresh and 10 pairs were stored for one year) and 10 pairs from each, of 5 pharmacies from different localit¬ies in great Cairo. The microbial quality of these gloves was examined by determining viable aerobic counts. The samples showed, bacterial counts of 80, 125, 180, 200, 300 and 420/ml (of the washing liquid) for gloves obtained, from. Heliopolis, producing company, Zamalek, Giza, Al-Haram and Imbaba, respectively. No fungi was detected2. The microbial counts of samples taken from differentsites of the manufacturing line were determined.The different sites of the manufacturing line sho¬wed quite similar bacterial counts.
