Synthesis of novel basic esters of 1,1-disubstituted cyclohexane carbojfylic acids of anticipated psychotropic and analgesic potencies have been, accomplished•A general survey on the classification of psychotropic agents, namely, Rauwolfia alkaloids and related compounds, phenothiaaines and thioxanthenes, tricyclic antidepressants, diphen^l methane derivatives, butyrophenone derivatives , IfV-beuzodiazepines and related compounds, hydraaines and hy-drazides and phenethyl and indole ethylamines as veil as their structure-activity relationships has been discussed.The basis on which the molecular design of the prepare, cyclohexanes is rationalised and thoroughly dealt with.A detailed discussion on the synthetic pathway of the desired compounds as well as the starting materials and inter, mediates leading to them has been described.
