This thesis comprises the macro— and microinorpho— logical study as well as the phytochemical investigation of Launaca mucronaba, C Porsak) tribe ‘7ichoriae, fanily Qompositae, a common wild plant in Egypt where it is known by the Arabic name Morraer. In view of the pz’es-. once of mediina1ly important constituebs in plants of bribe cichoraca, their use in folk medicine and as the literature survey appears to lack any information about Launaea muc’onata (For’ssk).
