Derivative Spectrophotometric Determination of some Sulpha-Drugs &Antibiotics

PREFACEThe prominent position occupied by some pharmnccutical compounds containing phenolicorland amino groups makes their determination a matter of foremost importance.Ultraviolet derivative spect.rophotometry is a relatively new technique that offers enhancement 0(’ the qualitative features and accord ingly increases the finger print ing utility of U.V. spectrophotometry for specific identification of ma ny organic compounds. The selectivity of derivative spectrophotometry has been used advantageously in pharmaceutical analysis to assay drugs with poorly developed maxima or when excipients, other active ingredients interfered with the conventional spectrophotometric determinations or when there is exited spectral overlapping.In this study attempts have been done to establish new methods for the determination of some pharmaceutical compounds containing phenolic or / and amino groups using U.V. derivative spectrophotometry.
