Abstract:
Ambilhae is a new which is used for treatment of Bilharzias is and Amoebiasis .The drug has been administered to laboratory animals as well as human beings for the purpose of some biochemical studies including its effect on urine composition liver function metabolism and detoxication1 – The urine of 10 laboratory animals and 10 human patients has been analysed qualitatively and quantitatively for the normal and abnormal constituents . The drug is detoxicated in the liver as glucuronide which excreted in urine. The urine of the treated animals or human beings acquire a dark brown colour. This abnormal colour is due to an iron protein compound which appears in the urine of for administration of the drug and seems to be a kind of metabolite of the drug. This suggestion is supported by paper chromatography and electrophoresis. The output of ethereal sulphates is also increased but this may be attributed to the presence of sulphur in the drug .2- The liver function has been tested during administration of the drug and after treatment by determination of :- Plasma protein pattern- Serum transaminases (GPT and GOT)- Serum choline esterase
