Abstract:
In view of the well known medicinal importance of plants belonging to the family compositae especially for plants containing sesquiterpene lactones we thought it was necessary to carry a phytochemical study on some compositae plants focussing the interest on their sesquiterpene lactone contents.our study comprises phytochemical investigation of Brocchia Cinerea Del. Acrisione denticulate Hook and Arn., Fleischmannia pycnocephala less. and Ageratina viburnoides DC.This work has been planned to study the potentiallities of finding new constituents which may be of pharmaceutical and medical importance. The present study includes :1- Isoltion and characterization of chemical constituents of the chosen plants.2- Elucidation of the chemical structure of the isolated compounds using spectroscopic techniques.
