Synthesis of some Acridine Derivatives for screening for Antileukemic Activity

The present investigation deals with the synthesis of four series of 3-chloro-9-substituted acridness.The Endeavour of this work is to contribute to structure-antitumour activity relationship of these groups of compounds. The antimicrobial activity of the members of these four series is also studied in order to find out if any correlation exists between antimicrobial and antitumour activities.The work involves the synthesis of four known intermediates, four new intermediates and fifty three new final compounds. The synthesis of such compounds is discussed and the modifications adopted for their synthesis, if any, is presented. The structures of the new compounds were confirmed by different chemical and spectroscopic methods.
