Abstract:
Summary and ConclusionsThe possible interactions between guanethidine and triflupromazine and fluphenazine was studied. The effect of 9ufne~hidine and the two phenotiazine tranquillizers alone and after combination of fluphenazine or triflupromazine with guanethidine on the blood pressure of adult male rats after I.G. administration was determined. Similarly, the effect of the drugs and their combinations on the blood pressure and heart rate of adult male rabbits was recorded after I.C.V. administration. Moreover, the action of the individual drugs and their combination on norepinephrine content of the heart and spleen of rats as well as on norepinephrine uptake by the isolated raggit heart was carried out.The main findings of the present investigation can be summarized as follows:1- Guanethidine, triflupromazine and fluphenazine in duced significant hypotensive effect.2- Intravenous administration of either triflupromazine or flup henazine along with guanethidine did not dignificantly alter the hypotensive effect of the latter while their I.C.V.
