Seventy two powdered herbal drugs collected, from different localities in Egypt were analyzed for their mold profile. Of the three media used, czapeck-dox agar medium proved superior for the isolation, quantitative and tentative identification. of the fungi. Our native powdered herbal drugs, proved to be very rich in their fungal contents. Kaminon, Khella, Capsicum, Argel and Liquorice gave the highest frequency of fungal contaminated samples,The percentage distribution of fungal genus in the studied herbal drugs showed that Aapergillus and Pencillium genera were predominant, but Rhisopus, Hue or , and other fungi were also found in few samples. Asperg illua species mostly encountered in Capsicum, ” Argel, Kammon, Ginger and Chamomile, while Penicillium species mostly occurred in Caraway, Damsisoa, Liquorice, Mentha, Milupa herbal .tea and Hyoacyamus.Aflatoxin-producing fungi were widely distributed and detected in, many herbal drugs. Aflatoxins B1 and B2 were produced by 20 isolates on synthetic mediumwhereas G1, and G2 were not detected. Mycotoxins other than aflatoxins were also detected. These include producers of sterigmatoxystin, zearalenone, ochratoxin A penicillic acid
