Studies on the Formulation and performance of Niglosamide

Human schistosomiasis or billharziasis is one of the major health problems in different parts of the world, affecting more than 200 millions people and menacing 500 millions under exposure. It heads the list of communicable diseases in Egypt, both as regards its prevalence, gravity and its great repercussions on the national economy . It is considered as a major occupa¬tional and environmental hazard, so that it was found of great importance to evolve and apply several measures of control. The increased utilization and development of potential water resources provided optimum conditions for the effective completion of the life cycle of the schistosomes and created new acquatic habitats which are favorable for the multiplication of the vector snails.Egypt was the first country to establish specialized units for the countries of the disease . In 1927 the first molluscicidal operation, on a field scale, war undertaken using copper sulphate. In 1941 the Bilharzias is Control Section of the Egyptian Ministry of health the first of its kind in the world, was established and thus wan born the era of a country-wide schistosomiasis control through the use of molluscicidal.
