This thesis comprises a pharmacognostical study of Launaeanudicaulis ( 1. ) H00K which is indigenous to Egypt and belonging to tribe Oichorieae. Literature survey showed a]nost no information concerning the cherni— cal constituents of this plantAccordingly, it was deemed of interest to investigate the above mentioned plant with a view to isolate, characte— rise and identify its chemical constituents whenever possible The macro—and micromorphology of the plant was studied in order to indenbify it in the entire and powdered forns.I — Macro—and micrornorphological study:A— Macromorphology:Iun0es_nudicaulis ( L. ) HOOK., a herbaceous plant with dense rosette of radical leaves and small cauline one, showing cylindrical stems which carry numerous terminal and axillary capitula./“The tribe cichorieae of the family compositse isown to include species which yeild certain compoundswhich possess antitumor activity, microbial growth inhibitors, allergic contact dermatitis, insect feeding deter— rents, plant growth inhibitors and anit—inflammatory activity. ring from 1arch to April.exstipLZl&te, green glabrous, with pinnately ion.
