Asurvey covering the syn thesis of dirhydrolutidines and lutidines via the application of the Hantzsch reac – tion and related condensations is given . The reactivity of methy 1 groups in 1 utidines is discussed .A brief out line on the biological activity of luti –Dina derivatives , methyl groups , stryls , arylidene –Carboxhydrazides , thiosemicarbazides , thiazolidinones,Oxadiazoles , urethanes and ureas is mentiond .The present investigation involves the preparationOf the following intermediates:1) 2,6- Dimethyl -3,5- dicarbethoxy -1,4- dihyDROPyridine .2) 2,6- Dimethyl- 3,5- dicarbethoxypyridine.3) 2,6- Dimethyl pyridine -3,5- dicarbethoxydrazide.4) 2,6- Dimethyl pyridine -3,5- dicarboxazide.The structural possibilities of product of theReaction of 2,6 – dimethy1-3,5- dicarbethoxy – 1,4- dihydro-Pyridine and hydrazine are elaborated in view of itsChemical, analytical and spectral data
