Synthesis of certain substituted Alkyl Pyridines of Pharmaceutical Interest

The medicinal importance of pyridine derivatives is out lind.Aparticuar consideration is given to di- hydro pyridines , oxopyridines, nicotinamides and hydrazine derivatives as they constitute the main feature of the final compounds. In addition , an account on the signi-Ficance of incorporating anicotinci acid residue together with the effect of methl grouping on biological activity is advanced.The scope and mechanism of the Hantzsch reactionWhich is applied in the preparation of the key inter –mediates is discussed in detail. The role of dicyclo- hexylcarbodllmide as a condensing agent , its mechanism, and the experimental condensing are out lined . The different methoos of preparing the intermediates are thoroughly reviewed . The experimental results attained in this work are critically discussed , and an adeouate interpretation is provided in each case.Moreover , some of the novel compounds were sub- jected to preliminary antimicrobial testing and the data obtained are summazed
