Abstract:
The present thesis deals with the study of the bio¬logical and taxonomical characteristics of a amall group of isolates, belonging to the red series of the genus Streptorayces, isolated from some soil of Egypt. Special interest had been directed towards the production of an¬tibiotics produced by the esperimental isolates. The experimental group of Streptomycetes consist of 3 isolates (A, B, T). The morphology of spore chains was studied in the light microscope while, the morphology of spores in the electron microscope. The 3 isolates produce straight chains of spores with bare smooth surface of spores. The result of the study of the cultural property applying 6 different media, revealed that the experimental isolates similarly produce rose serial mycelium with cream substrate mycelium, no. pigments are produced. The 3 isola¬tes succeeded to coagulate and peptonize milk, liquify gelatin, produce melanin pigment on iron peptone agar, but not on tyrosine agar, but do not decompose cellulose.
