Dietary effect on suprarenal gland of rat

Three hundred male young growing rats of Sprague- Dawely strain (21days old) ranging in weight between 55-85 gms were used to study the affect of diet on the food consumption, rate of growth of rats, weight of the rate and adrenal glands as well as the biochemical and histochemical patterns of the adrenal gland. The rats were divided into 3 groups each of 100 rata which were again subdivided into 5 sub¬groups each of 20 rats kept for one month, 2 months and 3 months on control diet , high protein, low protein, high fat and low fat diets.The dietary consumption of the animals was calculated according to the formulae written, in the various schemes mentioned in the thesis.The food consumption day and the rate of growth of every rat/week were calculated. After animal sacrifice, the weight of the adrenal glands was determined.
