Abstract:
. Despite the great advances in therapeutic and preventive measures against the opportunistic infections caused by Pseudpmonas aeruginosa , they are usually very hard to control by antibiotic therapy. In this investigation a total of 150 Ps. aeruginosa isolates were collected from various clinical cases of urinary tract infections, burns, wounds, conj¬unctivitis, corneal damage, chronic osteomyelitis, otitis media, external otitis, and from hospital environments. Such environments include air, catheters, utensils, walls and sinks of Zagazig General Hospital, Zagazig University Hospital, and Mansoura University Hospital. These isolates were identified, then submitted to bacteriophage typing with the aid of the available 12 standard phages. 91 strains (60.7%) were typed with variable lytic pattern indicating net erogenous sporadic infections and on hyperendemic situation existed in these Hospitals. While 59 strains (39.3%) were nontypable at the standard conditions.
