Pharmacognostical study of certain sargassum species

A pharmacognostical study of the three Sargassum species, Fam. Sargassaceae, was carried out. The three Sargassum Species studed were : S. crispum forssk. , S. Latifolium Jurn. and S.Vulgare Ag.this study included three parts :part 1 : A botanical study of three species was carried out .This study included the detailed macro and micromorphological characters of the thalli of S.vulgare Ag.Also a comparative study of the macro and micromorphology between the thalli of S.crispum and S.Latifolium, with that of S.vulgare was reported.The above study outlined the different botanical characters whih help in the identification and differentiation between the thalli of the three species under investigation.The main differences in the macro and microrphological characters between the three Sargassum species, were summarized in table xxx.part 11 :A phytochemical study of the thalli of the three Sargassum specices revealed the presence of carbohydrates, unsaturated strols and tracesof sublimable matter.
