Effect of Some Deppot-Acting Contraceptives Before and After irradiation on Plasma Lipids

In this study, we attempted to investigate, the potentRal use of ionizing radiation at the dose levels of 15, 25 and 50 K.Gy for sterilizing the estrogenic hormone a ethinylestradiol and estradiol benzoate as well as, the progestrogenic hormones , norgestryl , norethisterone acetate and medroxy progesterone acetate . All the hormones were sterilized in the solid state, while medroxyprogesterone acetate was sterilized as an aqueous suspension.The investigations encountered the following:1- assessment of the chemical constitution of the hormones, before and after irradiation, using infrared (IR) spectrophotonietry, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) apectroscopy and differential thermal analyaia (DTA).2- Determination of the pharmacological activity of thenon-irradiated and irradiated hormone , using the uterine weight technique for the estrogens and the endometrial proliferation technique for the progestin’s.
