Abstract:
The present thesis deals with, the study of cellulytic thermophilic actinomycetes obtained from different soils of Egypt.Isolation was carried out from soil samples enriched in cellulytic thermophilic actinomycetes. Five media were tested for their suitability for the isolation of the stu¬died actinomycetes. Of the tested media Kosmatchev agar + trace salt solution was found to be the most suitable.Applying different weights of soil for seeding agar plates, O.lg/plate was most suitable for obtaining count¬able plates. Soil samples collected from different locali¬ties showed different counts of cellulytic thermophilic actinomycetes. Clay loam soil samples showed higher counts. Samples from recently irrigated soils were of lower actino-mycete counts,Sixty nine cellulytic thermophilic actinomycete iso¬lates were obtained from the experimented soil samples. These isolates were divided into two groups on the bases of growth color; blue group (39 isolates) green group (30 iso¬lates).
