Determination of some Pharmaceutical Carbonyl Compounds

Pharmaceutical analysis of corticosteroids, Ketos-teroids, volatile oils and griseofulvin is required for the purpose of quality control of these drugs and their dosage forms The drug stability studies and drug absorption contributions required growing need for the development of simple specific methods for the evaluat¬ion of such drugsSpectrophotometric methods are considered simple, Sensitive and time saving methods in comparison to other techniques that either lack specificity, may be time consuming, require large quantity of the sample or necessity of expensive instruments.In this study it was the intent of concentrate on the analysis of eight of such drugs. The selection of the compounds was on the basis of the presence of carb-onyl group in their molecules These compounds are of marked spread use in medicineThese compounds were frequently determined by colo- rimetric methods However, the need for simple sensitive oolorimetrlo methods that may have the above mentioned merltes is required
