Studies on the Selection & Evaluation of Biological Indicator ( S ) for Monitoring of Chemical Sterilization with Glataraldehyde &/or formaldehyde

ThePresent study aimed to the selection and evaluation of biological indicator (S) for ste rilization with aldehydes (glutaraldehyde and or formaldehyde).In this study, 340 gram positive spore former bacilli iaolates were recovered from 250 samples taken from places exposed to chemicals especially formaldehyde and places that are likely to contain these bacteria as normal floea.Studies relevant to the applicability of the selected isolates as biological indicators were carried out. such studies includes the freedom of pathogenicity, determination of the optimum preparation conditions, determination of the optimum recovery after treatment and determination of D and Ø values in compraison with reference to the standard strain.
