Moreover, micromorphological study of the pericarp & seed in the entire and powdered forms.IT-Preliminary phytochernical screening of the fruits and flcmers.Ill-Detection, isolation and structure elucidation of the compounds from the fruits and flowers.VT-Study whether the folk use of the fruils ui me fini .drug in Egypt is based on scientific rationale or not.\--.id’; * acu:e oMclt and finally the antibacterial activity of the fruits.Part IMacro and Micromorphology of La’oizychizi,iz farctuin.Chapter 1-Macromorphology 1-ha hit at :Lagonychium farctzun is a prickly, perennial shrub, growing wildly in deserts of Upper Egypt, flowering from April to May and fruits appear in May to July. 123General Summary and Conclusion A-The stem:The stem forms straggling bushes or sometimes prostrate on the grounds, rough surface, cylindrical, solid, woody and monopodially branched and measures from 2 to 2.5 m in height and 4.5 to 14 cm in diameter near the ground with whitish-grey colour, faint characteristic odour and slight bitter, astringent taste. B-The lealAlternate, compound, paripinnate and stipulate.The leaflets: Sessile, lanceolate with entire margin, accuminate to rounded apex, symmetric base and papery texture. The leaf rachis is cylindrical, bearing from 8 to 12 pairs ol leaflets. Each one measures from 2 to 10 mm in length and 1 to 5 mm in width near the middle part with green colour, faint characteristic odour and bitter, astringent taste. c-The inflorescence:Spike, erect and the peduncle bears 35 to 40 flowers in an alternate manner.The flower: Actinomorphic, hermaphrodite, pentamerous, shortly stalked and has the flora formula: -- K5 - C(5) - A10 - G 1.The peduncle measures from 5 to 6 cm in length and 1 to 2 mm in diameter with yellowish-green colour. The inflorescence has yellow colour, with faint characteristic odour and slight bitter, astringent taste.D- The fruit:True, simple, dry, lornentum or sometimes legume, swollen curved or kidney-shaped, with constrictions, usually 2-valved, divided internally with weak false septa resulting in unequai compartments and containing 6 to 1 0 seeds, the surface is smooth showing tine reticulations. The fruits measure from 3 to 6.5 cm in length and to 2.5 cm in diameter with dark brown colour, faint characteristic odour and astringent lastly sweet taste.
