Determination of Certain Quinolone Derivatives in Their pharmaceutical Preperations

The study consists of four parts :1- First part :General introduction about the antimicrobial actions, therapeutic properties, history and the reported methods for their determination.2- Second part :This part includes a colorimetric procedure for the determination of the concerned compounds. Chrloanilic acid was utilized for their determination, forming charge-transfer complex. The proposed method was applied for their determination in pharmaceutical preparations. Statistical analysis showed no significant difference between the proposed method and official or reported methods.3- Third part :This part describes a colorimetric procedure for the determination of ofloxacin and norfloxacin through ion pair complex formation at the convenient pll’s witha) Methyl orange b) Bromophenol blue (for ofloxacin only)The proposed methods were applied for their determination in pharmaceutical preparations. The results were compared with official and reported methods.4- Fourth part :This part contains a colorimetric procedure for the determination of oflexacin indirectly by determination of copper II in its copper chelate after extraction by organic solvent and determination of copper II by dithizone.The proposed method was applied for determination of ofloxacin in its tablets. The validity of the proposed method was tested by comparing with the reported method which showed no significant difference.
