Pharmacognostical Study of certain salvia Species Growing in Egypt

In this thesis, it was decided to continue the investigation of some SaLvia plants growing In Egypt; a study previously started in the dopartment. because there is every reason to believe that,a variety of clinically useful antibacterial and/or anticancer components may be.’ Among these plants . The chosen plants are Salvia a egyptiaca L., S.verbenaca L. and S. lanigera poir.This work includes mainly the following I — A 1iteriturc survey on the diterpenoids, flavonoids and tritorpenoids( enountered In the genus Salia. 2— phytochemical screening of the three plants. 3 – Antimicrobial screening of the quinonoid-rich extracts. 4- Isolation and identification of the diterpene quinones. 5— Macro— and micromorphological study of the different organs of S aegyptiaca L.,
